Why pay someone to master your CD's when you can do it yourself? . . .
Vimar offers the Cygnet Crossfire, a compact (12-1/4" by 9") desktop device that allows the user to make copies of CD-Recordable discs (CD-Rs) in a fast and efficient manner. The Crossfire operates in two duplication modes: as a stand-alone unit which can read and write data or media images from a master disc onto its internal image drive before duplication, and as a unit which can work in conjunction with a host computer to receive, store, and duplicate a master image file. The Crossfire consists of a quadruple speed CD-Recordable drive, a SCSI controller, a large capacity image drive, and a power supply. The tower design of the Crossfire with its removable component modules allows for easy upgrades of firmware, components and maintenance access. In addition, the Crossfire's special housing design provides space for the installation of an additional SCSI device such as a removable hard drive, tape drive or CD-ROM drive.
The Crossfire's duplication process is initiated by the user through the LCD and four-button user interface located on the front panel of the unit, or by the host computer. Once a master image file has been composed with the system software, and transferred to the Crossfire's image drive, the unit will disconnect itself and allow independent host operation to perform other tasks.
