News from Vimar at Light + Building 2018

From 18 to 23 March, Vimar will be exhibiting at Light&Building, the most important electrical and electronics industry show, held every two years in Frankfurt. Visitors will be able to view a large number of novelties ahead of their market launches, guided by the drivers of technological and design innovation, the key strengths of Italian-made products, for which Vimar has always been famed.

The strong spirit of innovation always found in the Italian firm's offering is even more noticeable at the 2018 show, which will also be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Sicury safety shutter, invented by Vimar in 1968 to prevent accidental access to live parts of power sockets. Extended to the market free of charge, this revolutionary invention has now become a real international safety standard.

View, Vimar's vision of the digital world

This long-standing innovative drive is renewed in the present with View, Vimar's vision of the digital world and the Internet of Things, the guiding principle, in the near future, of the development of smart solutions, all connected to each other, the Internet and the user by means of state-of-the-art digital technologies.

But View is also a set of partnerships and a constantly growing ecosystem of stylistically matched smart products and interconnected systems, also compatible with other producers' commercial offerings, intended to increase simplicity for users and offer them an intuitive experience, working towards total control of their homes and a smart lifestyle. It already includes the IP video door entry system, the TAB 7 Wi-Fi connected video intercom and the gate automation systems which can be controlled and programmed via smartphone using the By-gate app, recently launched on the market.

New British Standard version of Arké

There is also plenty of space on the stand for the design driver, strongly reflected in all products but focusing above all on the residential product series, the company's crowning jewel for more than 70 years. In this context, carefully styled geometric forms and in-depth research into finishes have now brought us the new British Standard version of Arké.

Conceived to offer the unique identity and contemporary style of Vimar's latest residential series to all countries which adopt this standard, the series also appears here with the new Metal switch colour. The effect of this metallic finish is warm and not cold, for attractive inclusion in design schemes based on warm shades; it can easily be matched with natural materials, in line with the latest interior design trends.

More technological innovation is on offer in the new By-me and KNX BUS controls on universal architecture, which not only offer more control functions but also, thanks to the new RGB backlighting, different modular potentials and key covers which can be laser printed with a large number of pictograms, an updated look and wide customisation options.

Visitors will also receive a first-hand introduction to the new flush mounted Wi-Fi access points for LAN network distribution of multimedia contents and Wi-Fi signal extension, and will be able to admire the outstanding performances, in terms of power and flexibility, both of the updated By-me technology bus sound system and of the stand-alone solution, both with Bluetooth units to allow users to listen to streamed music directly from their own devices. Of particular interest due to its green potentials is the new battery-free Bluetooth module using energy harvesting for complete control of lamps and light fittings.
