Shay Frisch alla Biennale di Chengdu Vimar

Vimar multi-standard adaptors are once again the stars of Shay Frisch’s work. From 8th February to 23rd August, the artist is exhibiting his installations at the Tianfu Museum of Contemporary Art for the Chengdu Biennale, the most significant contemporary art event in China.

Trained as an industrial designer with a Master’s degree from Domus Academy, Frisch has always pursued research centred on energy, which he renders visible through the use of common electrical components.

At the Biennale, Frisch presents the solo exhibition, “The Extraordinary in the Ordinary”, a project that explores the aesthetic and conceptual potential of objects belonging to everyday electrical infrastructure (plugs, socket outlets, cables and adaptors) by elevating them into modules for monumental installations. Through these components, the artist makes the presence of the electric field and its surprising aesthetic energy visible.

Vimar solutions thus take on a central role: they are no longer simple technical devices, but veritable conductors of positive energy that link spaces, shapes and perceptions. They demonstrate how technology, design and artistic vision can merge to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, in line with the 2026 Biennale theme, “Pulse of Life”.

The exhibition constitutes a new milestone in Frisch’s career as he continues to investigate energy as a creative medium, reinterpreting everyday objects through a language that brings together art, innovation and Italian design.
