Vimar - positive energy since 1945
On 1st May 1945, Walter Viaro and Francesco Gusi established Vimar in an old hat factory near the Mediaeval walls of Marostica (VI).
This date, International Workers’ Day, carries profound symbolic weight, underscoring the focus on people, who have always been considered the "human capital" deserving of daily investment. Today, 80 years later, we celebrate the cultural heritage of a company that has navigated every shift in electrification throughout its long history, consistently working to deliver wiring devices, integrated solutions and systems. A strategic partner with a global reach, it boasts an extensive catalogue of over 15,000 solutions, 1,300 employees, 9 branch offices on the international scene and over 200 registered patents. Made in Italy means: creativity, expertise, innovation, tradition, attention and the utmost dedication. A ‘productive vision’, bestowed with the prestigious “Historic Brand” that has involved the company’s entire value chain for 80 years.
Outstanding quality combines valuable expertise with a profound appreciation for innovation and design, which has been rewarded by a host of international awards. Each lighting device fully integrates in the project as a true item of décor. Cover plates and 1-way switches from the Eikon, Linea, Arké, Plana and Idea wiring series blend in with any surroundings, to accommodate any type of need.
Innovation in technology that's simple and accessible to everyone is another key characteristic worth emphasising. In its extensive range of solutions for the smart home, the brand offers smart products and interconnected systems for home & building automation, for climate and energy control and management as well as video door entry and CCTV video surveillance systems. A complete and integrated package of services, with a particular focus on the local area and the environment.
Responsible production processes and ecodesign: sustainability is a commitment to the future. Thanks to our electrification initiatives, the total capacity of existing photovoltaic systems exceeds 1.7 GWh/year, resulting in a saving of approximately 1,670 tonnes of CO₂ compared to 2018 and a self-consumption of photovoltaic energy exceeding 11% of the total annual electricity consumption. What’s more, a tailored approach has been adopted to redesign processes according to a circular model, leading to the repurposing and recycling of, on average, 97% of the waste produced.
The new Linea series is the first wiring series globally to utilise ISCC PLUS certified plastics, an acknowledgement that ensures the traceability and sustainability of raw materials, components, and finished products throughout the supply chain. In fact, Linea replaces 70% of conventional fossil-fuel based plastic with plastic from recycled and renewable sources and thanks also to the optimised production processes, the efficient management of product volumes and the use of FSC certified eco-sustainable packaging, it reduces CO2 equivalent produced by over 80%, saving more than 500 tonnes of CO2 equivalent each year.
Beyond its continuous focus on employees, with programmes designed to foster professional and personal development, the company's commitment to the community is also made tangible through partnerships with schools and universities to nurture young talent.
Staying in Marostica, with an international vision: this is the model of a solid and innovative factory that we want to present to the world, celebrating Vimar and its 80 years of “positive energy”.
