Europa Palace Hotel: the rebirth of a Sanremo icon

History and design

During the 20th Century, the building underwent several interventions until the recent redevelopment by the Lagorio family, which marked its rebirth as a five-star boutique hotel. The project, designed by Studio Calvi Ceschia Viganò and completed in 2025, involved both the interiors and the external façades. The works expanded the volumes with a fifth floor featuring a panoramic terrace and a spa in the basement. Noteworthy artistic details include the “inverted olive tree” installation in the Rêve Bistrot and the sculpture “Le acciughe fanno pallone” (Anchovies Form a Ball) by artists Paolo Albertelli and Mariagrazia Abbado (Studio C&C) on the façade. Today, the facility boasts more than 70 guest rooms, including elegant suites and junior suites overlooking the sea and the Casino. The style masterfully combines the timeless charm of classic design, rich in decorative detail, with the simplicity and functionality of modern, minimalist lines. It is a harmonious dialogue between history and modernity, designed not only for international guests seeking authentic elegance and hospitality, but also for non-resident visitors who can enjoy its restaurants, terrace and spa, all open to the public.

Eikon Exé with Flat control: timeless elegance

The interior design, conceived by Studio Q-BIC, creates bright, welcoming spaces through the use of natural materials and cutting-edge technological solutions, achieving a measured balance between aesthetic research, comfort and functionality. Within this context, Vimar’s contribution comes in the form of the Eikon Exé series in the Collections variant: a perfect blend of technological precision and craftsmanship, available in various prestigious materials and finishes, from stone and metal to glass, so that every space is enhanced with a unique personality. The exclusive taste of Eikon Exé and its diverse control options: traditional, Vintage, Flat and Tondo (the latter recently awarded the Compasso d’Oro International Award) are also available in KNX and By-me Plus versions for home & building automation, giving the electrical system an unmistakable style. To integrate with discretion and refinement into the neutral wall colours, the oak headboard coverings, and the Mediterranean tones of the furnishings, the Eikon Exé series was chosen for the Europa Palace Hotel in the Flat version, featuring a square and streamlined shape in anthracite grey total look metal.

Technology at the service of hospitality

The renovation process, focused on offering guests an experience of authentic well-being, is completed through the adoption of an advanced KNX hotel management system integrated with Vimar solutions. This was installed by Capponi Gianpiero Impianti Elettrici and developed by Big Srl under the supervision of Engineer Andrea Maineri. It is a complex and technologically advanced system designed to enable smart hospitality while fully respecting the architectural identity of the building. Check-in and check-out, occupancy detection, lighting and temperature control, and the management of technical alarms and emergencies: every function can be programmed and monitored from the reception, which acts as the operational hub of the facility. This smart technology simplifies the staff's workload and enhances the guest experience, allowing them to enjoy their stay in total comfort. Inserting the card into the transponder reader automatically activates the lighting, adjusts the temperature according to preset preferences and informs reception of the guest’s presence.

Eikon Exé with Flat controls

The squared, flat shape of the controls affords a pleasant effect flush with the surface to emphasise the textured appeal of the cover plate. When teamed with the respective Eikon Exé cover plate, they generate an elegant Total Look with simple silhouettes and clean-cut geometries.
