Following the selection of the Eikon Tactil controls in 2019, this year it is the sophisticated stylish details of Vimar’s new smart dial thermostat - making it a prestigious design object - that were included in the ADI Design Index 2021, the second volume of the biennial cycle of the authoritative publication by the ADI Associazione per il Disegno Industriale (Industrial Design Association).
This publication not only constitutes the pre-selection for the Compasso d’Oro 2022 Award – the most prestigious acknowledgement of the manufacturing and design quality of goods, services, processes and systems of Italian design since 1956 - but has since 2009 also become the annual selection for the National Innovation Award, sponsored by the Italian President of the Republic, which each year involves the signalling on the part of ADI of three significant products from an innovation perspective, identified among those published in the ADI Design Index.
The products included in the publication are selected by the ADI observatory according to specific, very thorough criteria: originality and functional and type-related innovation, the manufacturing processes implemented, the materials used, the formal synthesis. All these characteristics are fully embraced by Vimar’s Smart Thermostat.
Innovative and inspired by the automotive world, the connected thermostat was designed to combine the convenience of a dial control with a crystal-clear LED matrix display. Ergonomically designed and featuring user-friendly technology, it can be controlled in a straightforward way from a smartphone using the View App or by voice thanks to voice assistants for climate control connected to individual lifestyles.
A host of details emphasise the attentive design focused on usage requirements. Starting with the display, which is perfectly visible even from afar, with the possibility of setting the brightness to 3 different levels, and also of turning it off, in the event of installation in a bedroom for example. And also the ring with backlighting, with 8 different customisable colours to indicate the operating status, and the design which offers impeccable styling without compromising on ease of use.
After recently winning the prestigious 2021 Iconic Award, being included in the ADI Design Index confirms the extent to which Vimar, as a genuine ambassador of excellence Made in Italy, focuses its attention on the design and quality of its product range.
