Vimar receives another prestigious acknowledgement: the Compasso d’Oro International Award
On Friday, 5th September, at the Italian Pavilion of Expo Osaka 2025, the international jury of the Compasso d’Oro Award presented Vimar with the coveted Compasso d’Oro International Award for Eikon Exé with Tondo control, Vimar’s innovative and exquisite wiring series. The Compasso d’Oro International Award is the global version of one of the most prestigious design accolades. Founded in 1954 by Giò Ponti and entrusted to the ADI (Italian Industrial Design Association) since 1958, the award has celebrated the most significant products of "Italian know-how" for over seventy years. After the Honourable Mention bestowed upon the Linea series, now Eikon Exé with Tondo control has also gained a place in the coveted permanent collection of the Compasso d’Oro, declared by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage as being of “exceptional historical and artistic interest” and has therefore been rightfully included among the products of national heritage. The awards for this edition were given to projects that best interpreted the Expo theme: “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, a vision actively promoted by Vimar, creating smart, connected, safe, secure and accessible spaces, where technology and styling blend in seamlessly to improve the quality of life.
A perfect blend of cutting-edge technology and impeccable craftsmanship, the curved aesthetics of the Eikon Exé series with Tondo control, which offers a visually comforting and embracing experience, convinced the international jury to select it among the 20 winning projects, currently on display at the Italian Pavilion. Elegant and discrete, the Tondo control is inspired by the classic round-shaped controls, featuring a base with backlighting around the button and a choice of LED colours. Made of metal and always featuring matching control and cover plate, it creates a sophisticated Total Look that ensures aesthetic consistency in all six variants: Matt White, Anthracite Grey, Brushed Nickel, Brushed Dark Bronze, Polished Gold and Satin Gold. Also available in the KNX and By-me Plus version for home&building automation, Tondo control challenges the rigidity of conventional shapes and its round silhouette represents the harmonious blend of modern technology and organic architecture reminiscent of the soft contours of nature. The Eikon series is thus summarised in a single platform that includes different styles and technologies, designed for a perfectly connected and integrated environment, with smart and home automation solutions and over 200 functions designed to optimise time and energy.
With the Compasso d’Oro International Award, Vimar once again confirms its unstoppable development path on the international scene, "designing future society for our lives". The brand, which this year celebrates its 80th anniversary, welcomed the news enthusiastically and expressed deep gratitude to all the collaborators who contributed to the development and success of the exclusive series.
