An actor’s dressing room is that magical and secret place, where they go in as a person and come out as a character. In the dressing room, where the artist sheds their mortal coil to enter the world of art, there is the illusion of being guests in a sacred place. This is specifically why it needs all the care possible. As if it were part of a stage.

This is the reasoning underpinning “VIETATO L’INGRESSO” (literally, NO ENTRY), a special initiative launched by Teatro degli Arcimboldi that, with the collaboration of 17 of the most significant creative minds in the world of design, architecture and interior design, have enabled the Theatre to give its dressing rooms a new lease on life, thus reopening to the public and to artists after more than a year of mandatory closure.

Owing to its painstaking design and vocation to excellence Made in Italy, Vimar was picked to be the technical partner for the supply - without any impact on the economics of the theatre - of all the electrical material required for energy management. Cover plates from the Arké and Plana series, in the most diverse modular designs; 1-way switches; buttons; controls and socket outlets of all types and standards now adorn the new dressing rooms offering artists both comfort and safety to prepare for their performance in the best possible way. A virtuous example of how, at a time of grave difficulty for the theatre business, companies come to the rescue in support of Art.

The initiative will end with a contest for public vote, to award the winning studio, as the final prize, the appointment for the refurbishment of “Camerino Muti”, a dressing room dedicated to the famous Conductor who first inaugurated it when the theatre opened, and which has played host to and will in future host the biggest stars of Italian and international show business: from Roberto Bolle to David Parsons, Ludovico Einaudi, Paolo Conte, Bob Dylan, the Dalai Lama, Sting, Sir Elton John, Liza Minelli and Charles Aznavour.

Teatro degli Arcimboldi, an ambitious project by the Architect Vittorio Gregotti, the founder of the famous Studio Gregotti Associati International, thus retains its vocation to those forms of contemporary art that have made it an iconic venue for Milan’s cultural life.

After 3 months of summer work and until 27th September, the new dressing rooms will be open - in complete safety - to the public, who will be able to delve into the new worlds created by the studios and admire the superior quality of the offerings, the styles and design solutions implemented and the quality of the electrical products installed.

This unprecedented project is the meeting place between the world of production, the world of design - with its many facets and sensitivities - and the colourful and lively world of show business. So the spotlight is cast on the new dressing rooms, which become an exclusive stage for the world of design and architecture, which Vimar now belongs to.
