The new hospital wing in Chiavasso, near Turin, really stands out next to the existing facilities. The historic building and the new extension are on opposite sides: the first is part of the well-established urban landscape and has maintained its original architectural look, while the latter looks out over a more recently built part of town and has embraced a more modern style. From a logistics point of view, the new entrance – next to the car park – is the most impressive, as it provides main access to the hospital’s different areas and services. The spacious hall leads to the bar and restaurant, the conference centre, and to all the wards. With a catchment area of approximately 200,000 people, the new wing is laid out over five floors and includes A&E, the blood testing, intensive care, neurology and general practice departments, as well as the hospital pharmacy.

Vimar's solutions fit perfectly in this modern and technologically advanced environment, especially its modular emergency call system Call-way, which is able to manage patient requests swiftly and effectively, simplifying hospital personnel’s work. In addition to improving operational efficiency, it allows to monitor access, response times, system status, and staff availability, thus optimising the use of resources. All patients can make emergency calls using the relevant device connected to the button on their bed’s headboard, allowing personnel to respond swiftly, even remotely. Designed in compliance with the VDE0834-1-2 standard, Call-way is completed by the electrical system made with Plana Antibacterial: white technopolymer cover plates and a specific yet vast range of devices conceived especially for hospitals, surgeries, care homes, schools, etc., treated with silver ion antimicrobial technology, to prevent the proliferation of germs caused by multiple people coming in contact and using the lighting devices, and all distinctively laser engraved with the “+Antibacterial” logo. The treatment has been tested on over 50 different species of bacteria with certified results: it kills over 90% of bacteria in 24 hours.

To ensure the easy, accurate and swift transmission of data within the facility, Netsafe fibre optic cables have been installed throughout the building creating the Call-way multifunctional emergency call system, which is supported in the individual wards by the video door entry system and the Elvox CCTV video surveillance system, to improve communication and safety; positioned in the intensive care wards, the latter constantly monitors patient conditions.

Thanks to the integration of Vimar’s smart solutions, the new wing of Chiavasso’s hospital is a model of efficiency, safety and innovation conceived to meet the needs of patients and hospital personnel. A modern and functional hospital facility oriented to the future that addresses the requirements of a community in constant evolution.
